Dear Members of the Daviess County Board of Education,
We are writing as concerned parents, grandparents, taxpayers, and community members who care
deeply about the safety and well-being of the children attending our schools.
As construction begins on the New Highland Elementary School, we respectfully ask the Board to
provide clear information regarding the measures being taken to protect students and staff during this
process. Specifically, we would like assurance that all construction workers, subcontractors, and anyone
with access to school property have undergone appropriate background checks and that those checks
are being properly verified and documented.
Our request is not intended to create fear or controversy. Rather, it reflects our shared responsibility to
ensure that student safety remains the highest priority. Parents deserve confidence that every
reasonable precaution is being taken to protect children while construction activities occur on or near
school grounds.
We respectfully ask the Board to publicly communicate:
- The background check requirements for contractors and subcontractors.
- How compliance with those requirements is verified.
- What security measures are in place to limit access to students and school facilities.
- How parents and community members can stay informed throughout the construction process.
Transparency builds trust, and trust is essential when it comes to the safety of our children. We
appreciate the work being done to improve our schools and ask that student protection remain at the
forefront of every decision.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We look forward to your response and to
working together to ensure the safest possible environment for all Daviess County students.
Respectfully,
Concerned Parents and Community Members of Daviess County
